School of Humanities and Law, formerly known as Department of Humanities and Law, was established in June 2020. The school has a reasonably structured teaching staff, well-equipped language laboratories, a mock court, a law clinic, and a translation training room. It has four undergraduate majors, including English, Business English, Law, and Preschool Education; four professional teaching and research offices, and public curriculum teaching and research offices, including Chinese, Mathematics, Sports, Information Retrieval, etc. More than 30 university-enterprise cooperation practice training bases have been established.
The school has always focused on the teaching and improving the teaching quality, made efforts to improve the teaching quality, and actively explored teaching reform. On behalf of the school, many its teachers have participated in the provincial college young teachers' teaching competition, the “Teaching Star” grand prix, and the “SFLEP • Cup” National College Foreign Language Teaching Competition, and won the first and second prizes.
The school attaches great importance to discipline competitions and encourages its students to actively participate in national professional competitions. Students have made outstanding achievements in various disciplines and professional competitions at all levels, including the “FLTRP • Guocai Cup” National English Speech, Reading, Writing, Debate Contest, the National College English Competition, the “Mingshi Cup” Moot Court Debate Contest, and the “Challenge Cup” Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Contest. They have won more than 100 awards in total.
The school has provincial first-class courses of English Translation and Basic English, and provincial major teaching reform projects. College English was selected into the provincial ideological and political demonstration project of Fujian Province in 2021. Its teachers have undertaken more than 70 provincial- and municipal-level projects. It hosted the final of the “FLTRP • Guocai Cup” National English Writing, Reading and Speaking Competition in Fujian in 2020, and won the only best organization award; in the same year, it also undertook provincial large-scale research activities such as the 2020 Meeting of Fujian University Foreign Language Teaching Research Association.
The school has always adhered to its motto of “Cultivating Oneself with Humanities and Disciplining Oneself with Law”. Guided by social needs, it has optimized the talent training programs, and innovated the talent training modes with the goal of cultivating innovative talents. It adheres to the mechanism of joint training of talents by government, universities and enterprises; carries out in-depth cooperation with multiple units inside and outside the province; trains application-oriented talents to meet the market demand, and serves the local economic development.
