Liu Jian, Deputy Head of Fujian Provincial Department of Education, and His Party Visit FZTBU for Investigation and Study
On the morning of January 5th, Liu Jian—deputy head of Department of Education of Fujian Province, Zhang Wendong—director of Division of Higher Education, Zheng Banghua—director of Division of Science and Technology, and Xu Zhiyong—director of Division of Teachers’ Work, visited Fuzhou Technology and Business University for investigation and study. Zhao Yanyi, vice chairman of the Board of Directors of FZTBU; Pan Wanhua, director of the Board; FZTBU’s leaders Yu Xinran, Zhao Jie, Huang Bin, and Wang Zongchi; and its assistant presidents Chen Qingyi and Wang Rongguo accompanied the investigation and attended the forum.

At the forum, President Zhao Jie, on behalf of FZTBU, welcomed the investigation and guidance work of Liu Jian’s Research Team, and expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Department of Education for its concern and help for the development of our university. He briefly introduced the basic situation of FZTBU since its establishment, and mainly reported that in 2020, the University, with Ministry of education's undergraduate teaching qualification assessment as a starting point, deeply studied and implemented the spirit of education programmatic documents such as Overall Plan for Deepening the Reform of Education Evaluation in the New Era, actively created new engineering and new liberal arts programs, and cooperated with a central enterprise to build School of Health-Tourism Industry. Zhao Jie pointed out that our university was still in the transition-construction period, which was urgent to further straighten out the management system and mechanism under the guidance and support of the Provincial Department of Education, increase the strength of talent introduction, and build a high-quality strong private undergraduate university with its own characteristics.

After listening to the report, Deputy Director Liu Jian hoped that our university would actively practice, strive to explore a development path of the private university, and make contributions to further promoting the development of higher education in Fujian. He also hoped that we should have a long-term view; combine “internal training” with “external introduction”; take various measures to strengthen the construction of teaching staff; concentrate our efforts; and provide project, platform and financial support for high-level talents; so as to effectively transform human resources into a continuous driving force for the development of our university. He suggested that it was necessary to implement the industry-university integration and university-enterprise cooperation in the process of talent training, strengthen our scientific research team, promote our teaching reform, and improve the level of our research work. He said that we should give full play to the open and flexible advantages of private colleges and universities, start first, and make top-level design according to the educational development laws of colleges and universities at home and abroad; that it was necessary to enhance self-confidence, open university running, more publicity and promotion of our university, more communication and exchange outside the university, with the help of a multi-resource platform, to gather forces for the development of our university cause. Liu Jian also said that private and public undergraduate colleges and universities were an important part of higher education in Fujian Province, and that all colleges and universities should work together to run Fujian’s undergraduate education well, so as to make the pace of higher education and economic and social development in Fujian resonate with each other.

Accompanied by FZTBU’s leaders, Liu Jian and his party inspected Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Economic Management, Qingyun Innovation, Entrepreneur and Creation Center, Comprehensive Gymnasium, and Academic Exchange Center; and fully affirmed FZTBU’s good school-running conditions and hardware facilities.
